Just got back from the Blue Meanies Monkees tribute at B.B. King's in NYC and it was a great show. The Blue Meanies covers of 44 Monkees songs, which included several rarities like B-Sides and unreleased songs. The Blue Meanies remind me very of the Fab Faux in that they don't do costumes or dress up for a particular era, but just do the music and do it well. B. B. King's was pretty packed for the show and the die-hards like me were singing along to every song. I picked up their CD too, which includes covers of Lennon/McCartney, solo John & Paul, the Kinks, the Raiders, Elvis, they even have a cover of 'Cry For A Shadow' on their CD! The Blue Meanies are a wonderful band who obviously have a great love for the music of the '60's. If they play in your area I highly recommend you catch them, you'll have a fun time. (And I hope they'll consider my suggestion of adding 'Early Morning Blues & Greens' to their set) ;-) www.bluemeanies.net
